First  QKS Sports Meet

The world has moved past education being only about books and mathematics equations and so has Kathmandu. The first of its kind, Quality Kathmandu Schools(QKS) is an association of private schools based in Kathmandu which has been hosting various Extra Curricular Activities for students for about two years now. This year it also organized its very first sports meet. The event consisted of five games- Chess, Table-Tennis, Basketball,Futsal and Athletics.

Athletes from Premier International School exhibited their sportsmanship in all the events they participated in. The girls futsal team finished as second runners up after putting up a spirited performance in their highly competitive semi-final match against Rato Bangla School.Table Tennis being one of its strength where it was expected to do well, Premier finished third in Seniors and Juniors singles category alongside GEMS; second in senior boys doubles and third in junior boys singles category, earning third as their overall school rank in table tennis.

Alongside its victories all around, the school also hosted the two day boys futsal match. The crowd cheering for their respective teams through the wire net fencing was definitely a sight to see. The boys team exhibited their outstanding performance in futsal finishing first in their group before getting knocked out 3-2 in the quarterfinals in yet another neck and neck affair; this time against Gems.

Premier’s  Basketball team had an easy in the preliminaries with boys winning by 35 points and the girls winning by 15 points in their respective first matches. The team played with all their heart and soul into the game but unfortunately fate was not on their side and thus they could not make it past the quarter finals. However, the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by both the teams has made the school proud.

The athletics events were hosted in the Army Club, Satdobato, which was also the curtain closer for this year’s QKS sports meet. Qualifying schools competed with one other on the day of the closing ceremony which was held on the 9th of December. Premier achieved medals in long jump, shot put, relay races as well as 100&800 meter races.

The participants have made the school proud. If only books and copies cannot measure education, a trophy cannot measure gamesmanship. It takes a lot of will to win but even more to participate.
